Food Prep day

The tale as old as time, we need to stay steady on our routine life. Yes, things shift, yes life can be overwhelming but if we stay diligent in the things we can control a whole lot can happen in our favour if we persist in making good choices daily.

I'm a highly creative cook in some ways but I don't veer off the path to much when I'm trying either lose weight or just stay focused on my health. I say it all the time, when chosing foods it's important to think variety of colors and variety for taste but using natural ingredients as much as humanly possible. I've been spending some time with mother who has been hit pretty hard with pneumonia so of course I'm trying to make sure that she gets the nutrients she needs to get better quickly. At the same time trying to teach my brothers who have a small learning disability to be a little more conscious about the food they choose. I'm trying to show them how easy it is to make healthy dinners so they can stop eating "hungry man" boxed TV dinners all the time.  Old habits die hard, but I'll tell you, it's so easy that even the most non-cook cook can do this. It's just about knowing some basic things to get started.

Start with veggies, you them first and formost then a protein because that can be super easy for meat eaters to do so. I have carrots, and brussel sprouts with some seaosning ( I used rosemary, and oregano) just as much or as little as you like. If you don't know what you like, be brave and just try a dash or two and see how it turns out. That's where most of us start off anyway. So, grab some olive oil, fresh veggies and toss them in a bowl until the veggies are covered in oil and spices. Turn the oven on 350-375 F and throw some chichen or beef in the mix. Add some more spice topping on the meat and throw it all on a cookie sheet or in a glass cooking pan.  I cooked everything here for about 45 minutes at 375F. The great thing about these kinds of dishes is you can even just throw them in the slow cooker on low and walk away for 6-8 hours and get the rest of your day done without sweat. It's so easy anyone can do it.
